What is four-wheel alignment?
Four-wheel alignment measures the position of all four wheels relative to the car and to each other. The measurements are compared with the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. Adjustments are made where the vehicle's design allows them.
The service is also known as wheel alignment or wheel geometry adjustment. Toe adjustment is one part of the process: toe describes the direction of the wheels when viewed from above. Which other angles can be adjusted depends on the vehicle model.
Correct wheel alignment helps the car track steadily and helps prevent uneven tyre wear. Wheel alignment and wheel balancing are different jobs, so the cause of a symptom should be identified before choosing the work needed.
When should wheel alignment be checked?
A check may be needed if:
- the inner or outer edge of a tyre wears faster than the rest of the tread;
- the car pulls to one side or no longer tracks as steadily as before;
- the steering wheel is off-centre when the car is driving straight;
- a wheel has taken a hard impact, for example from a pothole or kerb;
- steering or suspension components that affect wheel alignment have been replaced.
A check may also be sensible when fitting new tyres if the old tyres showed uneven wear or there were symptoms while driving. Changing tyres alone does not automatically mean the wheel angles need adjusting.
Pulling or vibration can also be related to tyres, wheel balance or the condition of the suspension. Tell us when the symptom occurs when requesting an appointment. If needed, we assess what work is required before making adjustments.

We adjust the angles permitted by the vehicle's design to the specified values. Not every angle can be adjusted on every model. If other work is needed, its scope is agreed separately.

Are toe adjustment and four-wheel alignment the same thing?
Toe is one of the wheel alignment angles. Four-wheel alignment considers the angles of all four wheels as a whole. Adjustments are made according to the vehicle's design and the manufacturer's specifications.
Will four-wheel alignment stop steering wheel vibration?
