Engine repair in Espoo
Check Engine light, Drivetrain malfunction warning, rough running, a leak or an unusual noise? We investigate the cause and plan repairs based on our findings.
Timing chain and timing drive
We investigate faults affecting the timing chain, timing drive, valve timing and VANOS system. The need for repair is assessed for each engine and vehicle before any parts are replaced.
Timing chain replacement and timing drive repair
Identify the cause first
Engine symptoms may have mechanical or electrical causes. We start by investigating and narrowing the possibilities before deciding on repairs.
Agreed repairs
We repair identified faults. Work, parts and any additional investigation are discussed before expanding the scope.
Final checks
After repairs, we check the agreed work and system operation and explain any follow-up needed.
Timing system and timing chain
We investigate timing-chain condition and timing, and check the mechanical timing system as appropriate for the vehicle and engine. Chains, tensioners, guides and, where necessary, related parts are assessed before deciding on a repair. A fault code alone does not identify a part that must be replaced.
VANOS and camshaft timing
VANOS diagnosis includes assessing camshaft timing, target and actual values, and the operation and condition of camshaft adjusters. Camshaft/crankshaft correlation data is used where supported by the vehicle system. Findings are evaluated alongside the other diagnostic results.
Valvetronic
We diagnose Valvetronic faults and check system operation, distinguishing mechanical faults from electrical faults before repair. Adaptation or teach-in procedures are performed where applicable; they do not replace the repair of an identified mechanical or electrical fault.
Valve cover, crankcase ventilation and PCV
We investigate crankcase ventilation and PCV faults, as well as valve-cover leaks. The cause of excessive vacuum is assessed using the engine design and measurements; a symptom alone does not determine which part needs replacing.
Intake manifold and swirl flaps
We check intake leaks, manifold sealing and, where fitted, the operation of swirl flaps and their actuator mechanism. We also assess soot and oil deposits and oil leaks on the intake side. Diagnosis and repair are planned around the findings.
Oil and coolant leaks
We locate the source of a leak before planning the repair. Where necessary, the engine is cleaned before a follow-up inspection. Cooling-system pressure testing and other checks are selected according to their suitability for the vehicle.
Turbocharger and boost pressure
We investigate turbocharger, wastegate and actuator operation, together with boost-pressure deviations. Possible mechanical faults are distinguished from control-system faults before parts are replaced. The checks depend on the engine’s turbocharging system.
Mechanical engine condition
We investigate uneven running and unusual mechanical noises, including cylinder-specific diagnosis where necessary. Compression and oil-pressure measurements are used when appropriate for the engine and symptom. Repair feasibility is assessed from the findings and scope of work.
Mixture and air intake
Where needed, we investigate mass-air-flow (MAF) sensor operation, intake leaks, fuel trims and mixture adaptations. The aim is to distinguish mechanical faults from control faults; broader diagnosis is based on the vehicle’s symptoms.
Newer BMW and MINI engines
We also diagnose and repair newer BMW and MINI engines. Examples of engine families we work with include B38, B48, B58, B47 and B57, as well as several N-series engines such as N20, N47, N55 and N57. The scope of work and repair feasibility are always assessed for the individual vehicle.
When should an engine fault be investigated?
Uneven running, a misfire, a leak or an unusual noise may need investigation. Tell us when the symptom occurs and what the vehicle reports. Your description and our measurements help distinguish mechanical causes from electrical ones.
How are the scope of work and the estimate determined?
The findings of the investigation determine what repairs are needed. Before extending the work, we review the tasks, required parts and any further investigation with you. The estimate is based on this agreed scope. After the repair, we check the result of the agreed work.
