A DEFA or Calix solution suitable for your vehicle
Compatibility of the heater and installation kit is checked against the vehicle make, model, model year and engine. The same heater or installation method does not suit every vehicle. Existing heating system components are also considered when planning the work.
Engine heater or block heater?
An engine heater is often also called a block heater, although the design and installation method depend on the vehicle and engine. The name alone does not determine which heater is suitable or how it should be installed. We check the appropriate solution using your vehicle details.
What does the installation include?
- Checking vehicle compatibility and required parts
- Installing the agreed heater and installation kit according to the manufacturer’s instructions
- Fitting the wiring and connections included in the installation
- Checking the operation of the agreed installation
The exact scope of work is confirmed for each vehicle before installation. Any additional accessories and other work are agreed separately.
Cabin heater and interior power socket
Depending on vehicle compatibility, a cabin heater and an interior power socket can also be considered as part of the heating system. We check the required parts and installation requirements. These are not automatically included in engine heater installation and are agreed separately.
A battery charger as part of the system
A compatible battery charger may be one of the heating system’s accessories. Compatibility is checked against the vehicle’s battery, electrical system and the rest of the installation. A battery charger and its installation are included only when agreed separately.
Extending an existing DEFA or Calix system
If the vehicle already has a DEFA or Calix system, we identify its existing components and assess the options for extending it. Additional components must be compatible with the existing system. Compatibility of components or connections is not assumed from the brand name alone.
Cables and connections
Cables and connections are selected to suit the agreed system and vehicle. They are routed, secured and connected according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If existing components are to be reused, their suitability and condition are checked first.

The price depends on the compatible heater, required parts and scope of installation work. Send your vehicle details and information about any existing heater so we can estimate the work and price before confirming an appointment.
What information do we need?
Provide the registration number or the vehicle make, model, model year and engine. Mention any existing DEFA or Calix system and the work you would like done. An appointment request does not confirm an installation slot; we reply during opening hours and agree on the appointment separately.
